ORGANIC FABRICS
HEMP
The oldest plant cultivated by man is hemp. It is adopted all over the world for its multiple positive aspects. Its fiber, leaves, stalk and grain are exploited for multiple industries such as food, green building, rope, automotive, paper, personal care and textiles.
Its properties
Hemp is a naturally durable, antibacterial and environmentally friendly material. The fiber softens wash after wash, making it softer and more comfortable in the long run. Thanks to these porous fibers, hemp textile is a breathable fabric that acclimates to our body's temperature variations. It is resistant to mold and protects the skin from UV rays. It is the strongest natural fiber available and this is what makes it so durable.
In addition to all these positive aspects, hemp is also environmentally responsible in terms of its production. The fields capture CO2 from the atmosphere, they use four times less water than cotton for the same amount of textile and no pesticides or chemical compounds are used. Its growth cycle is fast, its culture is easy and healthy for our farmers. In short, it is an underestimated material, but very beneficial, because hemp protects our skin and the environment.
Why is it not used more nowadays?
In the 1930s, the cultivation of hemp was banned. The population's perception of this plant has drastically changed. In 1998, the cultivation of industrial hemp was allowed again in Canada. Since then, hemp is slowly making its place in many industries for its numerous properties.
Why hemp underwear?
It was logical to produce hemp underwear because of its many beneficial qualities for our bodies and the environment. Moreover, by adding organic cotton, we increase the softness aspect in this textile blend for underwear.
ORGANIC COTTON
What is the difference between cotton and organic cotton?
Organic cotton is simply a better farming method than conventional cotton. It is grown without chemical fertilizers or toxic pesticides. In fact, it is grown on healthy land, which means that there has been enough time for the land to remove the toxic excesses that were there before. In addition, it is an organic farming method since the fertilizers are organic. A rotation of crops on the land is done as well as a considerable reduction in the amount of water for production is also achieved. Finally, organic cotton is a better quality cotton than conventional cotton.
Its advantages
Its fiber is soft, comfortable and ideal for fragile skin. It is often used to protect and clean newborns. Organic cotton reduces water waste, improves soil health and significantly improves the health of the farmers who tend the land.
